Graft Extraction and placement in a hair transplant
The term graft refers to an area of tissue on the scalp with one or more hair, that is removed from the donor area (also known as permanent hair-bearing region) and transplanted into the bald area of the scalp (known as recipient site). Before the patient goes in for a hair transplant surgery , whether FUT or FUE, a proper assessment of his scalp is done, medical history is checked and present health condition is taken into account. The donor site and recipient’s site of the patient are thoroughly examined to ensure the reduction in undue graft wastage. Once all the parameters are assessed and a pre-operative investigation is done, only then the hair transplant is recommended and the procedure date is fixed. Before the surgery, essential pre-operative instructions are shared with the patient.
